Im looking to move to HD with FTA. I just wanted some opinions on HD recievers. Ive been a Viewsat guy for a while but am not oposed to switching brands. Any information on recievers and support would be great. I just cant make up mind which one to go with. Thanks.

Similar question.... http://www.extremetesting.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=16701
For me, VS9000HD, Version 2 ( with fan, lol).
As far as I know, NO extra hardware required to receive HD ( eg - no need to add an 8SPK module, like the SV8000 seems to need)....
IMHO ....:asleep:

SonicView8000HD has less bugs then the Viewsat! and same coders so support is great!

Can you elaborate on the bugs?
And on any addons (if required)?
thanks

With the card swap coming soon is it even worth investing into FTA?

not likely, but they will likely believe FTA will be running again.
IMO HD FTA is a horrible purchase right now as the first channels to go over to new cards/keys/routines/encryptions/anything are HD channels
your better off subbing to basic + HD imo

Well we'll see what happens once the card swap comes into play. Then its either sub in HD or maybe the game will stay on and then it wil be probably a good time to invest in HD testing :)
I wouldn't touch FTa especially in CDN with change over FTA will drop and who knows how long it will be before they get fixes and to spend the investment of HD not a risk i would be willing to take. just my 2 cents.

I'm tending to agree now as well. The HD box prices are artificially being held too high.
With the 'big fall' looming, the vendors are playing it quiet to extract maximum profit while they can - what the public at large doesn't know won't hurt them, apparently.
I went into a couple of local FTA shops - they play dumb when a card swap is mentioned.
There will be a lot of boarded up storefronts soon...
Thanks for your input.... I can see this is a sensitive subject for some, lol.
