Hey i know this is sat site, but is there any info from people here as to using the fixed cable boxes to get cable movie channels! Or am i out of place for asking? I have standard cable without any boxes at all just straight into tv. Was just curious!

Not out of place asking haganth, it's a "reasonable" question.

I don't have a definitive answer on any "hacks" for cable except that I have read some posts awhile back that folks could hack the "analog" cable, but the "digital" cable was a no-go.

The issue seems to be that since a cable from them to you is used, then it can be a two-way transmit/receive issue and they can query your cable box to see if your programming is the same as what their database says about your account.

Pretty risky, in my view...especially the digital method.
